Practical Data Centre Management Workshop – Overview:

The Workshop facilitator

David Cuthbertson is the Managing Director of Square Mile Systems, a UK based company specialising in data centre supporting systems and management techniques.

Content Overview
With the increasing complexity and density of modern high performance computing, organisations with data centres and data centre professionals are finding that they need to quickly acquire skills and understanding that can enable them to manage data centre resources more effectively.

As there are usually only a few, multi-disciplined individuals involved in running data centres – who tend to be time limited - this intensive one-day format is ideal.

The Workshop is designed to transfer practical knowledge and skills to teams and managers responsible for day to day running of data centre facilities. So the focus is on how to develop and improve team working across the multiple technologies used to deliver business computing.

With a combination of case studies, exercises and structured training, delegates will understand industry best practices and also interact with other delegates.

In live data centre environments, it’s a given that new technologies will continuously be introduced, whereas many of the people and management issues are unlikely to change until there is sufficient understanding at all levels. This course is aimed at ensuring that management techniques which enable the internal data centre facility to provide reliable business computing and controls are understood. (A separate workshop - Practical Data Centre Management Part 2 - covers management interfaces to external teams.)

To ensure that delegates get the maximum learning benefit, there is some flexibility in terms of course content so that specific issues can be dealt with in depth as they arise.
